Development of Automated System for Logistics and Inventory Management

Abstract

Abstract: The shop floors require material, machinery, equipment and tools, information technology, quality control, storeroom, manpower resources for manufacturing of intermediate or final product and inventory management. In this study, an automated logistics and inventory management system was developed for shop floors to improve the production efficiency. A sensing system was developed based on the framework of Internet of things (IoT) to collect the information of copper aluminum strip and polyvinyl chloride both in the storage room and manufacturing area, and an expert system was developed to automatically conduct inventory management based on the established rules. The experimental results showed that a large amount of working time is reduced, improving efficiency in manufacturing industries. The proposed system can reduce the time of recording data and also assist the manager in configuring and managing material orders.
